Google preparing to become an e-book seller

Having agreed a settlement of its book digitising dispute, Google has revealed it plans to enter the e-book market before the year is out.

One of the world’s most popular Internet phone services, Skype, is finally set to make its mark in an official capacity on the other two most important phone platforms it hasn’t yet supported: the iPhone and the BlackBerry, with iPhone action starting on Tuesday, and the BlackBerry cherry popping in May.

iPhone 3G users who’ve patiently been waiting for the iPhone Dev Team to release its “yellowsn0w” application can now see a video of the unlock in action – as they impatiently wait for December 31, 2008 when the app is due to be released!

Apple tweaking Safari for iPhone 2.2 software

Is Google about to get a more prominence in the iPhone version of the Safari browser, even though Google's Android platform is just coming to market in the shape of the HTC G1 mobile phone?

No WinPwn for iPhone OS 2.1 yet - but promised soon

iPhone 2G and 3G “jailbreak” addicts keen to move to Apple’s iPhone OS 2.1 can already do so on the Mac, but Windows users are patiently awaiting a new version of WinPwn to do so. While it’s not yet available, its author promises delivery “soon”.

iPhone OS 2.1 delivers the iFix - at last!

The iPhone OS two-point-oh-woes seem finally a thing of the past, with snappy responsiveness from the OS, the SMS keyboard typing, loading of contacts and other apps, no crashes (as yet) and reports from some iPhone 3G users of more bars and better reception, but not everyone agrees. Meanwhile, my unlocked iPhone 2G is now happily running OS 2.1 – how did I do it?

That didn't take long! A day after Apple released the iPhone 2.1 firmware upgrade, the iPhone Dev Team has released the new versions of PwnageTool and QuickPwn. So much for the iTunes 8 barrier that was meant to prevent such Pwnage...

Microsoft wasn't the only company to have a Patch Tuesday this month. Updates from Apple include security fixes for widely used software including QuickTime and iTunes. As in the Windows updates, several of the issues addressed by Apple concern malformed media files.

So those pics of the new iPod nano were spot on, as were the rumours about iTunes. The nano comes in 9 colours, there’s a new iPod Touch with speakers, volume control, Nike+ and 36 hours of audio, and OS 2.1 software arrives at last – but there’s no 64GB iPod Touch, and no 32GB iPhone 3G.
